For a month now, Leon Gelhever has been part of The Next Organization team as a new consultant. He shares his initial experiences.

Leon completed a degree in International Economics and has a strong interest in international trade, macroeconomic issues, and societal transitions. “During my studies, I developed a way of working that combines analysis and change, with an eye for how new ideas and technologies find their way into organisations,” he explains.

He is now happily involved with The Next Organization, a strategic consultancy firm specialising in improving the commercial performance of organisations. “In my first few weeks, I not only gained good insight into TNXTO's projects and clients, but especially into the way the firm approaches strategic issues and collaborates with organisations.”

Get involved from day one

From his first day, Leon was involved in all phases of ongoing projects. “I was involved from the beginning in analyses, internal discussions, and translating these for clients. I was also soon allowed to join meetings and work sessions. So you're not just watching from the sidelines here, but are immediately brought into how issues are refined and how choices are made, including in contact with the client.”

Moreover, development is not a secondary concern at The Next Organization, indicates Leon, who, in his first few weeks, completed various training sessions aimed at both the content and working methods of the agency. “These training sessions didn't just impart knowledge, but also looked at approach, choices, and impact. That shows that development has been deliberately integrated into the way we work here.”

The way of working also typifies the team. “Substantive discussions form the basis of the collaboration. Different perspectives are consciously placed alongside each other, so that choices are sharper and better substantiated.”

Fast part of the whole

“Direct and accessible,” is how Leon describes the culture within the consultancy firm. “Colleagues are approachable and expect everyone to take responsibility and contribute. This ensures you quickly become part of the team and are taken seriously within the organisation.”

As a brand-new consultant, Leon feels he's in his element at The Next Organization. “I've landed in an environment where development and responsibility come together.”

His first month is now over and Leon is looking forward positively to the coming period. “I would like to delve further into strategic issues, continue learning within projects, and increasingly connect my analytical background with the practicalities of organisations.”
